The MVP race between Jokic and Embiid has heated up due to Embiid's absence, with Jokic as the frontrunner.

The rivalry between Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid has reached a boiling point, with Jokic now the favourite for MVP after Embiid missed the season series finale against the Nuggets with a knee injury.

Fans are angry at Embiid's absence, sparking speculation that he is avoiding Jokic. That narrative, coupled with the new MVP rule that requires players to play in at least 65 games, has shifted favour from Jokic to Embiid.

Embiid averages a staggering 36 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game, and remains the team's leading scorer. However, missing more than five games could cost him the coveted MVP award, leaving the door open for Jokic.

The Serbian centre is known for his humility and outstanding all-around game, averaging 26.3 points, 12 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game. Under his leadership, the Nuggets finished fourth in the West, making him a strong contender for a second consecutive MVP.

NBA legend Bill Walton further cemented Jokic's status by calling him "one of the greatest basketball players of all time" and praising his shooting, dribbling, passing and overall game.

With Embiid's absence and Jokic's continued performance, the MVP race has become a one-man show. It remains to be seen if Jokic can seize this opportunity to repeat as MVP.
